Furniture Terms

Buffet - a sideboard or cabinet for holding china, table linen, etc.
 
Cabinet - a piece of furniture with shelves, drawers, etc., for holding or displaying items: a curio cabinet; a file cabinet.
 
Chest - a box, usually with a lid, for storage, safekeeping of valuables, etc.: a toy chest; a jewelry chest.
 
Chest of Drawers - a piece of furniture consisting of a set of drawers in a frame set on short legs, or feet, for holding clothing, household linens, etc.
 
Chiffonier - a shallow, tall, open piece of furniture, of the 18th century, having shelves for the display of china.
 
Cupboard - a closet or cabinet, usually with shelves for storing food, crockery, and utensils.
 
Dresser -   a dressing table or bureau.  A sideboard or set of shelves for dishes and cooking utensils.
 
Hutch - a cupboard with drawers for storage and usually open shelves on top, often used for dishes.  A chest or bin for storage.
 
Sideboard - A piece of dining room furniture having drawers and shelves for linens and tableware.
 
Trunk - a large, sturdy box or chest for holding or transporting clothes, personal effects, or other articles.
